Wandering comprises three video pieces that connect to each other on many levels. My family history in Europe and the creative work of my mother, Miriam Neiger, are at the core of this video triptych
I - The first video shows a collage of people and places that relate to my family's roots: Jerusalem (Israel), Komarno (Slovakia), Novosibirsk (Russia), Szczecin (Poland). Constant movement and migration characterize my family history. This restlessness is something I find both in myself and in my mother's creative work, both her poetry and painting.
II - The center of the second video is a specific poem, "Exile" by my mother. The poem extends this restlessness into the personal domain, where it is expressed as an inability to stay creatively in one place.
III - The third video is based on the beginning of a poem by my mother, "How Could I...." It brings closure to the video triptych by posing a question. The answer may be found in the creation of this video
